About the Role
This is a professional position for a Math/Science Teacher
Full-Time, 10-month, Exempt
Work Schedule: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM daily, 196 days, plus occasional training days provided in advance
Specific tasks required of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Instruction and Progress Monitoring
-Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
-Develop activities, lesson plans, and assessments that are in accordance with established procedures, and in alignment with FL DOE content and grade-level standards
-Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
-Use relevant but limited technology to support instruction
-Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing Cornerstone Preparatory Academy rules and procedures
-Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Cornerstone Preparatory Academy
-Provide appropriate and timely feedback on student work
-Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use appropriate data to adjust instruction
-Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records of students’ progress and development
-Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations
-Prepare required reports on students and activities
-Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings
-Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
-Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
-Prepare classroom for class activities according to Cornerstone Preparatory Academy best practices
-Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development
-Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments in a timely manner
Overtime Eligibility
This job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Cornerstone Preparatory Academy's Instructional Evaluation Rubric.
Requirements
Contract start and end date for the 2026-2027 Academic School Year is July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027, with teachers' first day of summer training on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Bachelors Degree
Active Florida Temporary or Professional Certification in one of the following areas:
Math 6-12
and one of the below (or ability to obtain):
Earth/Space Science
MG Gen Science
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Minimum 3 years' of prior teaching experience required, 5 years' preferred
Level 2 fingerprint/background check will be required
A positive, can-do attitude and professional work ethic
Enthusiastic about the subjects Math & Science
Passion for teaching and helping students gain knowledge and build skills
Balanced classroom management approach - maintains a structured and organized classroom environment that is also helpful, supportive, and engaging
Willingness to conduct some lessons outdoors, participate in educational field trips, direct science labs, and provide students with continuous, active learning opportunities, which align with learning standards and our school program
Completion of all ongoing State of Florida required training for classroom teachers, as appropriate for the position
