Virtue & Character

At the heart of a classical education is the formation of character. Students are taught that knowledge and virtue are inseparable, that truth, goodness, and beauty are worthy pursuits. Through literature, history, and daily practice, we model and encourage habits such as honesty, perseverance, respect, and compassion. Our goal is to help students not only master academic content, but to live wisely, serve others, and lead with integrity.

Cornerstone Preparatory Academy helps foster these 6 Pillars of Virtuous Character in our students:

TRUTH

We seek truth in words, actions, deeds, and accounts. We can know if things are true by examining if they match how things actually are in the world around us.  We affirm truth in things proven by evidence and those that align with facts.

We will seek truth.

We will speak truth.

We will demonstrate truthful action.

We will strive for what is good.

We will act towards ourselves and others in goodness

We will seek goodness in all things.

JUSTICE

Justice is both a moral virtue and desirable quality of political societies. A core tenant of justice is the belief that all individuals have the free will to choose their actions, and the law should be applied equally to everyone. A morally just environment will be clear, consistent, and fair, as it seeks to bring appropriate consequence and right wrongs.

We will take responsibility for our actions.

We will seek justice and fairness for all.

HUMILITY

Is a moral virtue that sees the truth in self. It is looking into the mirror of oneself, to avoid both arrogance and self-deprecation. Humility gives grace that allows ourselves and others to be human, make mistakes, and make room for growth.

We will practice humility and grace towards ourselves and others.

We will see mistakes as opportunities to learn, discover, and grow.
