About the Role
Substitute teachers help maintain our students' academic progress by facilitating lesson plans during a teacher's absence. The perspective substitute teacher assumes the responsibilities of the classroom teacher for the school day by maintaining a consistent volume of high quality instruction with accuracy and professionalism.
Substitute teachers can customize their work schedules by choosing the number of days and grade levels of which they would like to work. There is no guarantee of work since the nature of substituting is based on the number of daily teacher absences. Substitute teachers gain flexibility in scheduling, valuable experience in the classroom, as well as the opportunity to network with teachers, administrators and other school staff.
Substitutes at Cornerstone Preparatory Academy receive full training and ongoing support in:
Delivering instructional lessons
Campus safety
Classroom management
Classical education model
Substitute Pay Starting Ranges
$15.00 per hour (GED/HS Diploma)
$16.00 per hour (Associates Degree/60 college credit hours)
$17.00 per hour (Bachelors Degree)
$18.00 per hour (Masters Degree in Education or Subject Area field)
$19.00 per hour (Specialist Degree in Education or Subject Area field)
$22.00 per hour (Doctoral Degree, subject to negotiation based on degrees held and experience)

General Requirements
Minimum Age = 18
4 years from high school graduation to sub in a high school
High school diploma or GED
Successful passing of a Level II Background Check (fingerprinting cost = $75)
Payment of the Substitute application fee = currently waived with CPA
Complete Online Training Course & Cornerstone's Campus Safety Training
Provide 2 forms of identification (one must be government-issued, photo id)
